About Horners

Selling since 1890

  • The trading name of Horners has been adopted to cover the businesses that formerly traded as Horners, Jonathan Howlett and Howlett & Edrich. A long  tradition of country auctions has developed from the agricultural origins to the present specialist auctions of antiques, fine art and collectables which have a  worldwide following.

  • Horners is a family business run by Charles, Henry &  Jane Horner-Glister.

  •  Acle became known as the gateway to the Norfolk Broads and is located just off the A47, about 15 minutes drive from Norwich and Great Yarmouth. A market charter was granted to Acle in 1253, during the reign of King Henry III, and it has remained an important market therefrom.

  • Howlett & Edrich established their auction business on the present site in Acle in 1919 and it continues as a successful auction centre to the present day.
