House Clearances

WHAT WE OFFER

Horners Auctioneers have over 20 years of experience in house clearances. We can offer various services from clearing just saleable chattels from a property to undertaking a full house clearance. We offer a professional removal service of high value items required to be auctioned in our specialist high value sales. Items of high value can include furniture, pianos, paintings, china, ornaments and anything that requires careful handling.

All general saleable effects can be included in one of our country auctions usually held every Thursday (although, as a temporary measure, these auctions have been reduced to every 14 days)

All high value and specialist chattels are included in one of our Gallery Auctions which are held throughout the year. These auctions are all held online with an illustrated catalogue, live audio and video feed and live bidding available.

All unsaleable items that are left in a property can be disposed of responsibly, recycling everything that we can to help the environment.

HOW IT WORKS

After speaking to one of our members of staff about which service you require, we can arrange a suitable date for our clearance team to attend the property and undertake the task.

All saleable chattels can be removed from the property and brought back to our auction site where the chattels are placed in the appropriate auction rooms. All high value items will be placed in our Gallery Show room and all other general effects will be brought into our general country showroom.

All unsaleable items will then be removed, brought back to our auction centre and disposed of in the correct skips.

Chattels are then carefully sorted, placed into appropriate lots with everything catalogued and lotted up as we go, producing a full list of all items included in each auction.

After the auction has completed, a full list of all lots that have sold is produced with the hammer prices against each lot, and a breakdown of charges applied. After all chattels have been sold all accounts will be placed together, posted on and a cheque will be sent for the full amount payable. General auctions can be paid out 2 days after the auction.

Lots that have been selected to be included in our Gallery Auctions will be catalogued, photographed and uploaded online. These auctions attract a worldwide audience allowing anyone to bid from anywhere in the world; we are regularly posting items to different countries including USA, China, Canada, Netherlands etc. A statement is produced, showing the hammer price of each lot together with a full breakdown of charges applied; specialist auctions are paid out 21 days after the auction.

Our standard vendor commission for our auctions is 16% of the hammer price. Should a lot fail to sell, there is an Unsold Lotting Fee of £2 for the general auctions and £5 for the specialist auctions. All charges are subject to VAT at the current standard rate.
